There were some hopeful signs today that the lockdown is starting to work. The number of cases fell to their lowest since ten days before Christmas. The number of deaths were also slightly down on a week ago at 592. So with some of the statistics heading, albeit slowly, in the right direction, there have been more demands on the prime minister to explain when schools in England can re-open or, failing that, what conditions need to be met for them to do so.
